With school-age children now invading your home working space, we chatted with some of our team who shared their secrets for enjoying a relaxed and organised summer holiday, whilst still getting through the To-Do List!
Develop a routine. Joy, one of our Business Analysts shared that setting a routine really helps structure the days, meaning everyone knows where they should be and when.
Have some family time before work starts. Both Joy and Pippa, our Head of Commercial, get up and out with their early risers before the workday begins, to ensure they get enough time together before joining OJ’s morning stand-up. They both say this also helps use up some of that early morning energy!
Plan your working week. Knowing which days will be your busiest can ensure you plan some activities in advance for your children to take part in unchaperoned, or if you’re lucky, you can call on friends or family for some childcare on the days that are full to the brim with meetings or require some extra ‘peace and quiet’!
Bring your children to work. Of course, this won’t be possible all the time, but if your employer allows and can accommodate, bringing your children with you to the office can be an option. Olive Jar Co-Founding director Rajesh remembers bringing his daughter to the Olive Jar offices and putting her to work! She created excellent spreadsheets and ran a tight ship, keeping our teams to schedule 😊 A big thanks to our team members for feedback, and to all working parents, we wish you luck for the next six weeks!
