So, it has been a year, and it has been an absolute joy. Stepping into my Business Analyst (BA) role within Olive Jar Digital has been both an exciting and daunting experience.

Reflecting on my first year in this position, I recognise the immense growth, challenges, and opportunities that have shaped my journey.

Navigating the Learning Curve

Coming into Olive Jar Digital with a business analysis background and working with the NHSE project, I quickly realised that healthcare operates in a unique and highly operational environment. There is a steep learning curve—from understanding patient care workflows to grasping the nuances of compliance and data security.

One of my first major tasks was familiarising myself with the Newborn Early Warning Track and Trigger (NEWTT2) tool and how digitalising it would benefit clinicians and improve patient outcomes.

Key Achievements

Process Optimization

One of the most rewarding aspects of my first year was identifying the tool's core requirements, benefits, clinical process optimisation, and recommendations for solutions.

Data-Driven Decision Making

I had the opportunity to work on projects that leveraged data analytics to improve healthcare delivery. By analysing clinicians' and suppliers’ feedback and operational metrics, I presented actionable insights that helped enhance service quality.

Stakeholder Collaboration

Healthcare is a multidisciplinary field, and as a BA, I worked closely with doctors, nurses, IT teams, and administrators. Building relationships with diverse stakeholders was crucial in ensuring the success of my projects. Learning to bridge the gap between technical teams and healthcare professionals was a challenge and a valuable skill I honed over the year.

Looking Ahead

As I look forward to what’s next, I feel genuinely excited about the future. The past year has deepened my understanding of the healthcare domain and strengthened my passion for solving complex problems and driving meaningful change. I am incredibly grateful to be part of a supportive, forward-thinking team constantly striving to make a difference. With so much still to learn and achieve, I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me. Here's to many more fulfilling years with Olive Jar Digital - building impactful solutions and growing together.
